A completed undergraduate degree in chemical or materials engineering from a recognized institution. NOTE: Applicants must declare all previous academic education and provide acceptable supporting documents for their application to be valid. Click here for more information on Academic Documents. *Graduates with non-engineering backgrounds may be admitted under special arrangements which involve the completion of certain undergraduate engineering courses.
Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 out of 4.0 in the last two years of study, or an equivalent qualification (see minimum academic requirements by country here)
English Language Requirement. Applicants with English as an additional language must submit ONE of the following English language test results:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 92 iBT with 21 in each section. (Institution Code - 0963, Department Code - 64)
International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) with an overall band score of 7.0 and 6.0 on each band
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) with a minimum overall score of 70, and 60 on each sub-test
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a minimum score of 62, and a score of 60 on each band
Duolingo English Test score must be minimum 115 overall with no subscore below 95. Duolingo allows 2 attempts within 30 days.

At least two courses must be 600 or higher level courses in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering. The balance of the courses shall be at the 500 or higher level in the Faculty of Engineering, or at the 400 or higher level in a Science Department. Science courses at the 400 level must be approved by the supervisor and Associate Chair (Graduate).The Master of Engineering (MEng) program is a course-based program, requiring 8 courses and one project.
