The minimum internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score requirement is 90 (including sectional minimums of 22 in speaking, 22 in writing, 23 in reading and 23 in listening). The minimum paper-based TOEFL score requirement is 600. Applicants may submit scores from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) as an alternative to the TOEFL exam. UVA的ECE提供3个电气工程研究生学位：哲学博士（Ph.D.），理学硕士（MS）和工程硕士（ME）。博士该课程要求学士学位以上课程以及研究论文的完成和答辩至少需要72学分的课程和研究。MS需要30个学分，其中6个是通过研究论文完成的。硕士课程需要31个学分时的研究生水平课程，并且没有研究要求。
ECE at UVA offers three graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering: Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Master of Science (M.S.), and Master of Engineering (M.E.). The Ph.D. program requires a minimum of 72 credits of coursework and research beyond the bachelor's degree and the completion and defense of a research dissertation. The M.S. requires 30 credits, six of which are completed through a research thesis. The M.E. requires thirty one credit hours of graduate-level coursework and does not have a research requirement. In addition to the residential M.E. degree program, there is an online learning option for the M.E. degree through Virginia Engineering Online (VEO).
