Students seeking admission to a graduate program in the School of Engineering must have received a bachelors degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or a related field from an accredited institution and must satisfy all general university requirements. Admission for those seeking a master's degree or graduate certificate is typically based on undergraduate record and may also consider relevant work experience and motivation towards study in the program in question as demonstrated by the applicant's personal statement. Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher is typically required, and students must maintain a 3.0 GPA during graduate study to remain in good standing. Students may choose either a Master's Thesis Option or Non-Thesis Option

Minimally accepted TOEFL scores, when applying for graduate pro-grams, are 550-paper, 213-computer, and 80 Internet. Students taking the TOEFL should have at least 20 out of 30 in each of the TOEFL sub-categories. The minimally accepted graduate IELTS score is 6.5. Indi-vidual IELTS test module scores are also reviewed in addition to the overall IELTS score.

The department offers a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in electrical engineering with two options. The non-thesis option requires a minimum of 30 semester credit hours (SCH) of approved course work. The thesis option requires a minimum of 24 SCH of approved course work plus a thesis comprising six SCH of research guidance. The approved course work must include at least 18 SCH of approved electrical engineering courses.
