Civil Engineering is a broad discipline dedicated to the planning, design, construction, and operation of facilities necessary to meet mankind's basic needs and desires. The program enables future engineers to tackle a wide variety of problems and to be at the forefront in serving society. This program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The BSCE requires 124 credits of coursework including study of the physical sciences, math and engineering in the first two years followed by upper level classes in broad and specialized civil engineering topics. A senior design course requires students from all the degree programs to work on real engineering projects. Technical courses are complemented by writing, humanities, social science, and foreign language classes.
