The Department of Civil Engineering offers research-based programs of study leading to the degrees of Master of Engineering (MEng), Master of Science in Engineering (MScE), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Civil Engineering. The normal duration for the MEng or MScE program is 24 months. The normal duration for the PhD program is 36 months.From highways and bridges to water treatment plants and energy-efficient buildings, UNB provides our graduates with a solid foundation to build exciting careers with consulting engineering companies, NGOs, provincial and federal government agencies, and academic and research organizations around the world. The program generally has between 40 and 60 graduate students conducting research in all the major sub-disciplines of Civil Engineering. MEng students often complete their program on a part-time basis.
