At the graduate level, the department educates leaders in infrastructure and environmental engineering research and practice, with emphasis on the use of reliability and risk management. Reliability and risk management include engineering design, uncertainty analysis, construction and repair, life-cycle and costbenefit analysis, information management and fundamental phenomena intrinsic to the understanding of advanced infrastructure and environmental systems. <br><br>The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department is an international leader in many areas, including Risk and Reliability Engineering and Nuclear Waste Management. Graduate students seeking M.S., M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees are engaged in thesis or dissertation research corresponding to one of the ongoing research areas of the department, and have the opportunities to work with our world-renowned faculty.
