The undeclared option allows students the ability to explore personal interests and major/career opportunities both one-on-one and in a group setting with an advisor. Undeclared students will initially be scheduled for a mix of liberal arts core classes and classes of interest, providing the time needed to explore possibilities and make an informed decision on a college major. Undeclared students will be encouraged to declare a major by the end of freshman year. Students interested in a major in the health sciences, education or engineering are advised to fully explore their eligibility for these majors prior to registering as an undeclared student. Computing is a broad field with many specializations. In undecided computing, students follow a common track while developing core competencies and exploring program options such as computer science (CS), information systems (IS) and software engineering (SE). Because many courses overlap at the introductory level, students have the opportunity to work with each other while experiencing the synergy of the department and discovering the best academic path based on their interests.
