Admission to undergraduate courses at the University of Tasmania requires qualifications equivalent to Year 12 schooling in Australia. IELTS (Academic) - 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5), TOEFL (iBT) 72 (no skill below: Reading 10, Listening 9, Speaking 16, Writing 19), International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma- Overall score of 24. Australian Year 12 (or equivalent) with a pass in Mathematics Applied (or equivalent)

Whether you are looking to embark on a career at sea or take the next step into the maritime industry, our Bachelor of Applied Science (MarineEngineering) provides the gateway to working aboard vessels around the globe. The Australian Maritime College's Bachelor of Applied Science (Marine Engineering) degree will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to undertake operation and maintenance associated to shipboard marine engineering systems. Our program is designed to integrate professional short courses and training at sea so that you will not only obtain a bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma but also a Certificate of Competency issued by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). Our program will prepare you for a career as a Marine Engineer with the practical skill and knowledge to work aboard commercial vessels. You will learn about marine engineering systems, vessel structure and operations, cargo and passenger transport, vessel management, marine legislation, marine survey and shipboard safety. We also grant access to an alternative degree exit option, with the inclu sion of our nested Advanced Diploma, offering an unmatched opportunity to embark on a career as an Engineer Watchkeeper just after your first 2 years of study. Our programs are also fully compliant with the training and educational requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW Convention, as amended in 2010).
