This on-campus Graduate Honours course is offered at Hobart as a separate one-year (full-time) or two-year (part-time) course. Honours consists of planning and conducting a research project leading to a thesis. Students who have an interest in research may undertake Graduate Honours either full or part-time following graduation. An Honours degree in Pharmacy enhances career opportunities and is the usual prerequisite for further study for a research higher degree (Master of Pharmacy or Doctor of Philosophy). Research Higher Degrees are generally expected for positions in the pharmaceutical industry, academia or government regulatory agencies. Graduate Honours consists of a planning and conducting a research project under the supervision of academic staff at the Division of Pharmacy, School of Medicine. Students identify a suitable project and conduct a review of the scientific literature to provide a rationale for their project, develop a research plan with their supervisors, conduct the project and prepare a research thesis. Students participate in research skills tutorials and present regularly to their peers and academic staff as a part of the course.
