国际学生入学条件

The normal prerequisite for all programs is a (UVic equivalent) MSc degree in Physics, Astronomy or related subjects. Students already registered in the UVic MSc program may have the opportunity to enter the PhD program directly via the MSc-to-PhD transfer process.

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE), General and Subject exams, are not required. However, they are recommended for applicants who completed their undergraduate degree at a university outside of North America. Applicants whose native language is not English must also satisfy the English Competency Requirement for the Faculty of Graduate Studies (see the ''Faculty Admissions'' section for details). Students with this qualification may still be required to complete English language courses along with their program-related course work.

The Theoretical Physics Group is actively involved in several research questions relating to the structure of matter. Focus areas range from theories of the electroweak scale, such as supersymmetry, to mechanisms explaining the baryon asymmetry of the universe, and to astroparticle phyiscs and the nature of dark matter. The group is also actively involved in the formal study of strongly interacting regimes in the Standard Model, using various novel techniques some of which arise from string theory.
