In Case Western Reserve University's one-year intensive Master of Arts in Medical Anthropology and Global Health program, our award-winning faculty are leaders in their fieldand will guide you to become an expert, too. Here, youll immerse yourself in a variety of courses in just one academic year, delving into topics ranging from illegal drugs and society to health and healing in East Asia. Youll also have the option to earn an interdisciplinary certificate in global health upon graduation in partnership with the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Our students have traveled the world conducting research, volunteering and advancing their education.<br><br>As a student in our MA in Medical Anthropology and Global Health program, you and a small cohort of classmates will dive into topics such as contemporary anthropology theory, ethnographic and qualitative research, and HIV/AIDS. You'll learn from faculty who are experts in their fields. In fact, two of our faculty members were elected to the National Academy of Sciencesan honor bestowed on an elite selection of internationally renowned experts and scholars.<br><br>The graduate program in the Department of Anthropology focuses on Medical Anthropology and Global Health. The objective of the program is to train students (1) to recognize and address, on both theoretical and practical levels, the complex relations between the biological, social, cultural, psychological, economic, and techno-environmental determinants and concomitants of sickness and health in both local and global settings, and (2) to analyze and evaluate how health services are organized and delivered. Students may receive a Certificate in Global Health in conjunction with their anthropology degree.
