Official transcripts must be submitted.
Option 1- midterm grades
If you are at least half way through the required Grade 11 or 12 course, apply by submitting your midterm grade* for the required course.
Option 2- final grades
If you have completed the required Grade 11 or 12 course, apply with your final grade for the required course.
English Studies 12 (50%) or
English First Peoples 12 (50%) or
Acceptable equivalent high school course or
3.0 credits of post-secondary English, humanities or social sciences (50%) from a recognized institution or
BCIT English Trades Entry Assessment (for applicants who have two years of education in an English-speaking country only unless taken with COMM 0030 or COMM 0033).
Math: one of the following:
Pre-Calculus 11 (60%) or
Foundations of Math 11 (60%) or
Workplace Math 11 (60%) or
Other acceptable BC and Yukon courses or
BCIT Math Trades Entry Assessment
IELTS - 6.0, TOEFL iBT - 82, Duolingo English Test - 105

The need for security is everywhere: airports, schools, stores, your home. More than ever before people are asking for electronic solutions to help restore peace of mind in an uncertain world. The demand for skilled security technicians has never been higher than it is now.<br><br>Graduates of the Security Systems Technician (SST) program install, maintain, repair and test equipment for intrusion alarms, camera and surveillance systems, card access and personnel monitoring, and home automation and entertainment systems.<br><br>Security technicians work mainly with low-voltage systems under 30 volts, using many specialized installation and testing tools. Students are trained to work safely and effectively on 12 volt systems, 120 volt circuits, TCP/IP and telephone networks, and more.<br><br>BCIT's SST program was the first of its kind in North America and continues to occupy a unique position in the security industry. Employers specifically ask for our grads when advertising for new positions.
