In addition to Graduate School requirements, admission requires the equivalent of an undergraduate major in biology including supporting courses in science and mathematics. Exceptions are made for students with undergraduate degrees in other areas, however, additional courses may be required.
WKU Graduate: Admission No qualifying GAP1 score will be required for graduates of the WKU B.S. in Biology program, as long as they have or are eligible for a teaching certificate for Secondary Biology (Grades 8-12). A copy of the certificate or statement of eligibility must be submitted with the application.
Graduate of a Kentucky Higher Education Institute other than WKU: Applicants with undergraduate degrees from Kentucky higher education accredited universities must have a 2.75 GPA for all previous undergraduate coursework or a qualifying GAP1 score and must have or be eligible for a teaching certificate2 for Secondary Biology (Grades 8-12). A copy of the certificate or statement of eligibility must be submitted with the application.
Graduate of an Out-of-State Institution of Higher Education Applicants with undergraduate degrees from all other higher education accredited universities must have a 2.75 GPA for all previous under- graduate coursework or a qualifying GRE/GAP1 scores and must have or be eligible for a teaching certificate2 for Secondary Biology (Grades 8-12). A copy of the certificate or statement of eligibility must be submitted with the application.
Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university.
Original copy/copies of transcripts/marksheets in English for evaluation by the Graduate School. TOEFL: 79 (IBT), 56 (paper-delivered test), 550 (paper-based test). IELTS: 6.5 (scores must be sent as hard copies from the British Council). Minimum Graduate School admission requirements include an earned bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and a 2.75 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
