As an innovative science teacher in the area of biology, chemistry, earth science, or physics, you'll inspire your middle and high school students to take a deeper interest in the world, help them examine and understand natural phenomena, and encourage aptitudes that can lead to careers in science, teaching, or research. Upon graduating youll be eligible for initial teaching certification in New York.Youll combine liberal arts courses in the humanities and social sciences, core content knowledge in a scientific discipline biology, chemistry, earth science, or physics and pedagogical course work focused on:Methods for teaching science and developing curricula for junior and senior high school students.Methods for adapting curricula for multicultural urban schools.How to apply technology in the teaching and learning of science.Instructional techniques and strategies for engaging more women and minorities in science.
