Prior to registering for student teaching, a passing Praxis II score report in the appropriate certification area must be received by the Farrington College of Education. The Farrington College of Education recommends that admitted candidates complete the Praxis II exam as soon as possible to give the candidate adequate time to remedy any academic content area deficiencies. Praxis II results are required for all initial certification areas except World Languages, which requires a passing score on the ACTFL exam instead. ‌

A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.67 (B-) or higher is required, with a GPA of 3.0 (B) or higher preferred. The Isabelle Farrington College of Education ensures that the average GPA of accepted candidates meets or exceeds 3.0 for all cohorts in all programs. In the event that a program's average GPA falls below 3.0, applicants with GPAs below 2.67 are referred to the FCE Academic Council and considered provisionally, which may result in either additional requirements to be completed prior to admission or denial of the request.
