Submit an official copy of your undergraduate transcript for review. These must be obtained from regionally accredited college or university where you earned your BS or BA degree. Once we receive your transcript, we'll evaluate it to determine whether you meet the minimum requirements for the content area in your chosen discipline. Then, if needed, you will receive instruction on what you'll need to complete successfully in order to meet the content area requirements.
Submit the MAT application package, which includes the following:

A completed application with three MAT reference forms
Passing scores on required basic skills exams or equivalent (ACT/SAT)
500-word (maximum) essay or Statement of Purpose, which should contain your personal view on why you believe it is important for you to become part of the program. The interview committee will review the essay to determine your motivation, interests, quality and clarity of writing, and ability to communicate ideas.
Official academic transcript from a regionally accredited college or university indicating you had a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
Criminal history checks are completed based on the requirements of the schools where you will have field or student teaching experience.
PERSONAL INTERVIEW AND WRITING EXERCISE
During this stage, selected applicants are invited to campus for an interview and onsite writing exercise hosted by an admissions committee. If selected, you also are required to complete a writing exercise before leaving the campus. The final admission selection is made by the interview committee. Those not selected initially may request an appointment with a faculty advisor to discuss any deficiencies and how to correct them, then reapply once requirements are met.
Students for whom English is a second language are required to submit TOEFL iBT or IELTS score reports. The University of Indianapolis institutional minimum is 79 although individual graduate programs may have higher proficiency requirements.
