As part of The Graduate School application, you will be asked to upload/supply the following documents/information:
Three letters of recommendation: You will be asked to submit the name and email addresses of three referents that are best qualified to assess your ability to succeed in graduate school. The referents will be sent an email message directing them to the appropriate site to upload their letter of recommendation. You will be notified via email when a reference letter is submitted, but you will not be able to view the letter.
Current resume or curriculum vitae
Statement of purpose (In approximately two single-spaced pages please explain why you are applying to EDTHP. In writing your statement, you might consider some of the following questions: What background experiences led to your decision to apply to our program and what is it about EDTHP that most interests you? What types of career goals or plans do you currently have?)
Writing sample (For example, an honors paper, undergraduate course paper, Master's thesis, or a review of an article or report published in a recent professional journal which deals with a contemporary educational issue related to your academic interests)
A copy of official transcripts/documents from all post-secondary institutions of higher education attended must be uploaded to your graduate application. International applicants must upload university records in the language of instruction (and copies of an official English translation if English is not the language of instruction).
GRE test scores are not required for Ph.D. applicants who apply for Fall 2021 admission. **Please note** TOEFL test scores are required for international students** and
Official TOEFL score report, if required.
International applicants must take and submit scores for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System), with the exceptions noted below. The minimum acceptable score for the TOEFL is 550 for the paper-based test, 213 for the computer-based test, or a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the Internet-based test (iBT). Applicants with iBT speaking scores between 15 and 18 may be considered for provisaaional admission, enrollment, and, if necessary, remedial course work. Our program consists of faculty with diverse interests and vibrant research portfolios encompassing educational policy, history of education, sociology of education and comparative and international education. We offer an interdisciplinary approach to the study of education and schooling leading to the master's and doctoral degrees The goals of our program are to understand the nature and context of educational systems, institutions and processes, and to understand and evaluate policies. The master's and doctoral programs in Educational Theory and Policy are designed to prepare professionals in education research, and policy development and analysis. Our program enjoys a strong climate of research collaboration among graduate students and between faculty and graduate students. In addition to their major, many of our master's and doctoral students pursue dual degrees or a minor in fields such as Comparative and International Education, Demography, Sociology, and Statistics. Our alumni have become faculty members in United States universities and abroad, as well as joining state- and federal-level agencies, research institutes and the World Bank.
