To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:
You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences. A weighted GPA takes into account the extra difficulty of honors, AP or IB classes.
If you are not admissible, you will be offered enrollment to a Nevada NSHE Community College. You will be offered admission to a Nevada university once you have completed a minimum of 24 college transferable semester credits at a NSHE Community College and have a 2.5 GPA in all your coursework.
If you are a student who does not meet our academic GPA requirements, but have graduated with an Advanced Diploma from a Nevada high school, you will be granted admission to the University. You must also meet the 13 core course requirements in English, mathematics, social studies and natural sciences to be considered for admission.
You must submit your final, official high school transcripts to support your application for admission.

The secondary education program offers students a strong liberal arts education with emphasis in the particular academic discipline in which the student will be teaching. The Secondary Education program leads to a bachelor's degree in the College of Education and Human Development. Students have the option of combining this with a degree in their content area-sometimes requiring no increase in the total credits required.<br><br>The College of Education has a number of amazing resources available to students to purse their education careers. The Learning Resource Center (LRC) is the College's dedicated library full of children's books and other materials designed for curriculum enrichment, lesson enhancement and professional development. The library also has an extensive collection of juvenile books to enhance lessons and presentations. In addition, the library houses the art room - a self-use facility that offers students a full complement of equipment, such as laminators, poster printers and a lettering machine, for producing education materials. In addition, the College of Education has a dedicated computer lab with all the latest software just for education majors to use.
