In a globalizing and diversifying world, students are learning languages across contexts, prompting a high demand for well-prepared teachers in national and international contexts. The program provides comprehensive knowledge on language teaching and learning, including second language acquisition theories and research, effective and innovative methods of instruction and assessment, and comprehensive knowledge about language, linguistics, language policy, and more. Participants will leave the program with extensive knowledge and skills to meet the needs of linguistically diverse students in multiple contexts, including mainstream, English as a Second Language (ESL), and bilingual classrooms at the PK-12 levels and ESL and foreign language teaching with adult learners in universities, community colleges, and community organizations. This program is following a cohort model. A cohort is often a group of ten students who attend together all of the required courses leading to a degree. In this model, students benefit from networking and building professional relationships with one another during the course of their program. Once a cohort is formed, the students remain together for the duration of their degree program.
