An official transcript of all undergraduate or higher courses. (In order to expedite the processing and evaluation of admissions, unofficial transcripts may be submitted. However, final, official transcripts and documentation of degree conferral are expected to be submitted as soon as possible.)
GRE or other test scores must be sent directly to the Catholic University Office of Graduate Admission from the testing service.
International candidates are asked to have their secondary school or high school guidance counselor complete the Secondary School Report.
Arrange to have your secondary school, high school, or college send the required educational documents directly to The Catholic University of America.
All students from countries and areas where English is not the common, spoken language (even if the student already is a resident of the United States) must have a practical understanding of spoken and written English to benefit from instruction, study, and examinations. Course work at The Catholic University of America requires university-level English language proficiency and skills.
Minimally accepted TOEFL scores, when applying for graduate programs, are 550-paper, 213-computer, and 80 Internet. Students taking the TOEFL should have at least 20 out of 30 in each of the TOEFL subcategories. The minimally accepted graduate IELTS score is 6.5. Individual IELTS test module scores are also reviewed in addition to the overall IELTS score.

Catholic University's program in Early Childhood Special Education offers graduate students the opportunity to complete a dual licensure program through our Master of Arts degree (M.A.) or Graduate Teacher Certification Program (GTCP). It prepares post-baccalaureate candidates to become reflective practitioners able to work in early childhood settings within public, private, and parochial schools. Students learn how to help infants and young children with exceptional needs develop so that they can become successful in a diverse and changing society.<br>The Catholic University program fosters the development of skills and expertise so that graduates can work collaboratively in a network of early childhood settings and a variety of programs, including early intervention, public elementary schools, public charter schools, Early Head Start, and preschools. The University places a strong emphasis on cross-cultural sensitivities and backgrounds, especially bilingual language development and bilingual school settings. The program is also notable for its family-centered emphasis.
