The Elementary Education with Special Education Program leads to New Hampshire elementary teaching certification for grades K-6 and New Hampshire general special education teaching certification for grades K-12. Elementary Education certification K-8 is available with a content concentration. Eligibility for the K-8 certification is determined by a transcript audit completed by the School of Education. Additional Praxis II or equivalent testing is also required. The program provides graduates with comprehensive knowledge of instructional theory and practice and a content area concentration in general special education. Students examine traditional and innovative research-based approaches to teaching a diverse population of students with mild/moderate disabilities. Requirements for both endorsements are accomplished without taking any additional credits (120 total credits). Students who complete this program are highly marketable candidates for both elementary education and special education teaching positions.
