Apply and be admitted to SAU Gradate School
Admitted graduate students will be asked by their advisor to upload the following into SAU's Graduate Admission's Portal in order to be confirmed as a candidate in the School Counseling Program:
Science of Reading Awareness Agreement
Copy of Arkansas Teaching License
Statement of Purpose
Current Requirements for Add-On Licensure from DESE at Program Completion
Add-On Licensure Application
Official SAU Transcript
Proof of Successful Completion of Required Praxis Test
Applicants must be in good standing with the institution they last attended in order to be eligible for admission to Southern Arkansas University.
A score of 550 or higher on the written TOEFL
A score of 210 or higher on the computerized TOEFL
A score of 79 or higher on the internet based TOEFL
A score of Band 6.0 (overall) on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
Completion of Level 112 at an ELS Language Center or its equivalent
Completion of EF Level 5

The Southern Arkansas University School Counseling Program prepares knowledgeable, self-aware professional school counselors and fulfills the licensure requirements for K-12 school Counseling credentials in Arkansas.<br><br>With an appropriate balance of theoretical emphasis and practical application, graduates are trained to address the developmental needs of children and adolescents and to implement Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Programs that are consistent with the American School Counselor Association's National Model and National Standards.
