This CACREP-Accreditited program offers a Master of Science degree or a Master of Arts degree for individuals interested in a career in School Counseling. This M.A. concentration provides an opportunity to obtain experience in original research through completion of a thesis. Students considering this option should have a strong interest in research methodology and a specific content area of research. Students must follow specific guidelines and timelines according to UNO Graduate Studies, the UNO Counseling Department, semester schedules, and the schedules of thesis committee members. The 54 credit M.A. degree with a concentration in School Counseling includes the coursework and field experiences (practicum/internships) required for licensure as a School Counselor in Nebraska. The M.A. degree requires completion of a 6 credit hour thesis.
