The School Counseling M.Ed program is proud to be one of the first Transforming School Counseling Programs. Our school counselor training program provides a wide variety of experiences designed to graduate 21st Century School Counselors. Graduates are advocates and agents of change, capable of assessing, developing and implementing programs that will effectively close the achievement gap by meeting the educational achievement needs of all students. The School Counseling Program admits students each spring. Students progress through the program as a cohort. During the academic year, the School Counseling Cohort meets one weekend a month on campus. Classes are from 9 am-5 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Between the monthly class meetings, students work online and meet with their supervisors. During summer sessions, students are in class Monday – Thursday. The Program Curriculum provides an overview of program requirements. Students enrolled in our M.Ed. program gain extensive hands-on experience in the K-12 school settings, beginning in the first semester of graduate study. Students establish a two-year relationship with an elementary school, middle school, and high school. Students have a site supervisor at each level in addition to faculty supervision.
