Tasmania's Government Primary Schools provides an enriching learning environment with a strong emphasis on basic skills in literacy, numeracy and IT. Teachers will also seek to work with children and their families to develop a student's sense of self-worth and the values they need for life in a global society. Primary Schools also have a focus on health and physical education, with regular sports including a ‘learn to swim' program. Excursions, extra tuition and out of school activities are all made available. Students will be in a designated class for the whole school year, with the same classroom teacher for most subject areas. This teacher will provide interactive lessons across all learning areas of the curriculum, including English, Maths, Science, Art, and History. Students may have a separate teacher for subjects such as Physical Education and Music. All learning is in English and international students are completely integrated with local students. English tuition will be delivered by the classroom teacher, with English and an Additional Language (EAL) and academic support also provided on campus by support teachers.
