The Master of Environmental Science (MEnvSc) degree program is the first graduate program at the University of Toronto Scarborough. This program is hosted by the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences with the objective of preparing environmental science students with the skills to discover, assess and solve environmental problems. This graduate level program focuses on interdisciplinary training taught by faculty members. Since 2006, the MEnvSc program has provided environmental science training through class lectures, laboratory experiments, model simulations, sample analysis and field excursions. Our graduate students have the opportunity to obtain course credits and apply what they learned in class to real-world problems through participation in summer research projects or internships.

Understanding the transport, distribution, fate and impacts of chemicals in the environment demands knowledge of a broad spectrum of cognate environmental disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics and geology. This knowledge base extends well beyond the boundaries of any single discipline. However, the necessary multidisciplinary expertise is readily available in the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough. Our faculty are well-positioned to meet the challenge of training well-qualified students for careers related to environmental monitoring, assessment, remediation and restoration.
