Our program is research-driven to ensure you gain exposure to the latest developments and advances in evidence-based dietetics, the science of nutrition, and community and public health nutrition. Our nutrition science course is distinct among Australian universities: we offer a strong life sciences approach, allowing you to pursue postgraduate research in nutrition or diversify to include specialisations in both human and animal nutrition. During the Bachelor of Science, you will study biochemistry, molecular biology and human physiology, which are necessary prerequisites for the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics. You will also complete a major in nutrition science. In the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, your first year will consist of a series of lectures, tutorials and practical classes introducing you to nutritional science, clinical nutrition and dietetics, public health nutrition and more. In your second year, you will participate in hands-on clinical training, and complete a nutrition research project. You will graduate with a solid knowledge of nutritional science and the expertise to pursue a career as a dietitian in a range of professional settings, in nutrition and nutritional research, and other health-related disciplines.<br><br>Contemporary animal production aims to yield high quality products in ways that are efficient, sustainable and humane. As a student in the Animal Production major, you will learn how environment affects livestock productivity, how physiology affects production and reproduction and how to improve animal performance through the application of underpinning animal sciences. You will also study animal behaviour and learn about production systems that promote animal wellbeing and welfare. You will acquire a sound understanding of resources required to address the challenges associated with achieving sustainable and profitable animal production enterprises. You will graduate with a recognised industry-oriented science-based education with a strong focus on enhancing the health, well-being and productivity of animal used in production systems, through innovative approaches. You will be well prepared for a career in one of the many animal production industries and organisations associated with food and fibre production (aquaculture, beef, dairy, pigs, poultry, and sheep).
