Agronomy is the study of crops and soils. As a student working toward an Agricultural Science with an emphasis in Agronomy degree from the University of Central Misssouri's Agronomy curriculum includes courses in: plant science, farm management, marketing, crop chemicals, and farm safety. We provide you with the tools to succeed in careers with the chemical, pesticide, and fertilizer industries. Many jobs for agronomists are based in research, management, academia, and consulting. As a student you will have opportunities to work at our 110-acre Mitchell Street farm. At the farm you can participate in agronomical research and forage production while gaining hands-on experience for agronomy and soils classes. You can build practical skills while working towards your degree. The farm participates in a leasing program with John Deere to provide students with the opportunity to experience the current technology available in the area of agricultural equipment. You will learn by doing through such opportunities as assisting in agronomic field test plot research and helping with variety testing trials.
