The following are minimum requirements for entry into the Bachelor of Science (Food Science) program. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
Direct entry: applicants are those who have not attended a post-secondary institution or have completed fewer than 24 credit hours at a recognized university or college. Direct entry applicants require the following:
Manitoba high school graduation including 5 full credits at the Grade 12 level in courses designated S,G, or U
A minimum average of 70% over the following courses, with no less than 60% in each course:
English 40S
Applied Mathematics 40S or Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S
Two academic 40S courses
Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) / Intermediate Certificate / All India Senior School Certificate
International Baccalaureate (IB) - overall minimum grade of 24.
three courses at the higher level (HL), three courses at the standard level (SL), no grades below a 3 (IB)
IELTS - 6.5 overall - Minimum score of 6.0 in each of the four modules (listening, reading, speaking, writing)
TOEFL iBT- Minimum overall score of 86, and Minimum component scores: 20 in Reading 20 in Writing, 20 in Listening,20 in Speaking

The Food Science program gives students the opportunity to explore how raw commodities are processed into healthy, safe and appealing foods. Students have the option to focus their studies on either the business (product development and marketing) or the science (food quality and safety) aspects of this fascinating sector.<br>Food scientists fuel the minds that feed the world. They study the physical, microbiological, and chemical makeup of food and use their findings to develop the nutritious, delicious and innovative foods products that line supermarket shelves everywhere. In the Bachelor of Science (Food Science), students study food safety, chemistry, microbiology, engineering, and sensory science. They develop a greater understanding of the fate of agricultural raw materials, and how such materials are processed and formulated into food products before being presented to the consumer. Program focus options. Science – Explores the science and technology of food processing, packaging, and preservation of foods, Business – Explores the business and economics of food production, including marketing and finance, for students who wish to work in the food industry as business managers or entrepreneurs.
