To meet the General Admission Requirements to Lakehead, you will need the following:
Successful graduation from an academic secondary school program or equivalent (For most countries, the same academic preparation as is required for university entrance in that country is required for consideration. Refer to Admission Requirements by Country.)
Program-Specific Prerequisite courses completed at the senior level (e.g. Grade 12),
Equivalent of a minimum 70% overall final average (Canadian)
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme applicants who achieve their diploma with a total score of at least 24 may be eligible for admission.
IELTS - 6.5 (no individual score less than 6.0)
TOEFL iBT - 80 (no component score less than 19)
TOEFL PBT - 550 (no component score less than 50) [when Speaking is present]

The Department of Health Sciences offers undergraduate and certificate programs in the area of Gerontology, as well as the Master of Public Health and Master of Health Sciences graduate programs. Population aging is a worldwide phenomenon affecting both developed and developing nations, and theneed for a well-trained workforce to support the aging demographic is well-known. There is, as a result, tremendous opportunities in the fields of aging - for example, in health promotion, health care, policy, or research. Our Gerontology courses and programs will allow students to understand the needs and issues facing older adults, aging throughout the course of life, the impact of aging on populations and society, as well as the impact of society on people as they age. Students will understand the individual and societal influences on aging and their importance to health and well-being. Programs offered include a three-year BA in Gerontology, a four-year Double Major with Psychology, an Honours degree in Gerontology with Major Concentration in Women's Studies, an Honours degrees in Sociology, an Honours degree in Social Work with Major Concentration in Gerontology, a Gerontology Minor. We also offer Interdisciplinary Certificates in Palliative Care and Dementia Studies. The aim of our programs are to provide multidisciplinary knowledge and skills necessary to understand individual and societal influences on aging, and their relevance to function, health, and well-being.
