Optional: The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is optional for the graduate program in nutritional sciences. Applicants to the Ph.D. program are strongly encouraged to submit GRE scores if they can be helpful in the Admissions Committee's assessment of readiness for doctoral study.
International applicants only
TOFEL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) for The Department of Nutritional Sciences requires a minimum score of:
Paper-based: 550 for paper-based test
Computer-based: 213 for the computer-based test
Internet-based: Total score of 80 with a 20 on the speaking section for the internet-based test (iBT). Applicants with an iBT speaking score between 15 and 19 may be considered for provisional admission, which requires an institutional test of English proficiency upon first enrollment and, if necessary, remedial course work.

Immerse yourself in understanding the American obesity epidemic, push the boundaries of our understanding of metabolic disorders, and investigate how micronutrients impact our bodies and overall wellness.<br><br>As a Master's student in the Graduate Program in Nutritional Sciences (GPN), youll do all of this and more while gaining advanced training in research, leadership, education, and community engagement in specialized and interdisciplinary settings.<br><br>Earn your M.S. while working alongside our esteemed faculty, and take part in a robust selection of hands-on research experiences, including applied research in clinical and community settings, as well as basic research focusing on cellular and molecular mechanisms of specific nutrients in relation to metabolism and other physiological properties. Upon completion, youll be well prepared to pursue doctoral-level training through our Ph.D. program in Nutritional Sciences or take on a leadership, research, or academic position in a variety of related fields.<br><br>Although the GPN focuses on doctoral-level training and is primarily interested in prospective students intending to pursue the Ph.D., the GPN does offer a M.S. Degree. MS students are taken on a case-by-case basis based on research opportunities of the faculty.
