To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:
You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences. A weighted GPA takes into account the extra difficulty of honors, AP or IB classes.
You must submit your final, official high school transcripts to support your application for admission.
SAT/ACT scores: We do not require SAT or ACT scores for admission or scholarship consideration
IELTS (must be academic version) with a score of 6.0 plus
TOEFL score 61 plus

The nutrition major combines the study of nutrition, a basic biological science, with courses in economic, political and cultural factors that influence the food choices available to individuals and communities. As a nutrition student, you'll study food from a holistic perspective that includes medicine, agriculture, natural science and community health. <br>There are two tracks in the nutrition major, the dietetics specialization, which prepares you to work as a nutritionsist, and the nutritional science specialization, which emphasizes the biology, physiology and chemistry underlying the science of nutrition. Both tracks include courses in the natural sciences and professional courses in patient care and nutrition therapy.<br>Both paths provide opportunities for you to apply what you learn outside the classroom through internships in community programs or undergraduate research opportunities in our high-tech labs. Your professors will work closely with you to help you identify coursework and learning opportunities that support your future career goals.<br><br>Students will be able to:<br>demonstrate knowledge of the scientific basis of the nutrition discipline.<br>demonstrate competency in the interpretation and critical analysis of the scientific literature which will be integrated into evidence-based practice.
