The Master of Arts in Teaching - Less Commonly Taught World Languages provides you with a foundation for teaching in theory and practice that will allow you to create learning opportunities consistent with Michigan's World Language Standards and Benchmarks and the World-Readiness Standards for Learning. You will learn to evaluate, reflect on, and adjust your teaching practices so as to meet the needs of diverse learners. You will also know how to analyze cross-cultural issues within and beyond the classroom and school setting. You will evaluate your professional practice and engage in continuous and appropriate professional development. You will become an advocate for the importance and benefits of learning world languages in K-12 settings. Successful completion of the master's program in Less Commonly Taught World Languages leads to a Michigan initial secondary teaching certificate with a K-12 endorsement in the language in which certification is sought.
