Completion of high school/secondary level. A certified copy of graduation certificate or diploma will be required prior to enrollment at SDSU. A minimum U.S. equivalent GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 (B grade or 80 percent) or higher. TOEFL – Passing score is 80 iBT and 550 paper or higher. IELTS – Passing overall score is 6.5 or higher.

Our undergraduate programs provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become interculturally aware leaders who engage in social justice-oriented community service and scholarship. Knowledge refers to a holistic program of study that explores race, ethnicity, gender identities, class, and immigration, as it relates to Chicana/o/x-Latinx communities. We emphasize the U.S.-Mexico borderlands (history, politics, comparative and symbolic borders), expressive arts (art, cinema, music, theater), and community practices for social change (health, education, community organizing). Skills refers to the ability to successfully communicate in written and oral formats and effectively apply knowledge to problem solve in academic, social, and workplace settings.<br>Students gain:-<br>The knowledge necessary to become interculturally aware and effectively engage in community service and scholarship.<br>Understanding of Chicana/o/x-Latinx history, culture, artistic expression, and social activism.<br>Appreciation for the diversity of thought and experiences within Chicana/o/x-Latinx communities.<br>Mentorship from award winning faculty.<br>Experience working in local and transnational community organizations.<br>Critical thinking, writing, and speaking skills.<br>Chicana/o Studies majors are prepared for graduate study and careers in a broad variety of fields, including in federal, state, and local government, education, law, and journalism, and nonprofit and grassroots organizations.
