Transcript- official transcripts from ALL colleges attended after high school, including transcripts with your most recently completed courses, are required for admission. Graduate program applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted and a minimum of 3.0 on any post baccalaureate work at Fresno State. Applicants with a GPA of 3.0 and higher will be given priority.
Those who do not possess a bachelor's degree from a postsecondary institution where English is the principal language of instruction must receive a minimum score of 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). (Some campuses require a higher score.) Applicants taking the computer-based TOEFL must present a score of 213 or above. (Some campuses or programs require a higher score.) In the case of graduate admissions, the CSU minimum for the internet (TOEFL iBT) version of the TOEFL is 80.
Statement of Purpose- This is a 2 page (single-space, 12 size font, 1-inch margins) typed statement of your purpose for applying to the program. Focus on your present situation and your short and long-term professional goals.
Three letters of Recommendation
have attained a grade point average of at least 2.5 in an acceptable earned baccalaureate degree, OR
have attained a grade point average of at least 2.5 (A = 4.0) in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted

The master's degree program in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling (MFCC) at California State University, Fresno is designed to prepare professional counselors, in accordance with the ethical standards of the American Counseling Association, to serve the mental health needs of an increasingly diverse and changing society throughout the greater central California's San Joaquin Valley. <br><br>This Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) program provides preparation for a career as a counselor specializing in marriage, family, and child counseling in public or private agencies, or in private practice. Completion of this program satisfies the approved degree title requirements for the California Marriage, Family and Child Counseling license. Students need to be aware that the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) has additional requirements for this license.<br><br>The MFCC program is actively committed to the recruitment and retention of students who reflect the rich ethnic and cultural diversity existing in the Central Valley. The program consists of 60 units and can be completed in 5 semesters. Our students gain first-hand experience at the Fresno Family Counseling Center along with academic experiences that prepare them for entry-level counseling positions, leading to state licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors.
