国际学生入学条件
Before you apply to a URI graduate program, you must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the United States or the equivalent of a four-year degree at an international university that is evaluated by an approved agency.
GPA - 3.3 or higher recommended. At least 12 credits of relevant preparation, including courses in family relations, developmental theory, abnormal psychology, and introduction to counseling or equivalent courses. Two letters of recommendation should be from supervisors/faculty in a related field attesting to observed experience, emotional stability, and maturity. After initial screening, qualified applicants will be required to come to campus for a personal interview.
TOEFL iBT - An overall score of 80 or above
Reading: 19 ,Writing: 18, Listening: 17, Speaking: 18
The minimum score on the Paper-based TOEFL is 550.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): All scores must be sent directly to URI. Required minimum score of 6.5, AND minimum scores in the following areas:
Reading: 6.5, Writing: 6.5, Listening: 6.5, Speaking: 6.5
Duolingo English Test: Required minimum score of 105
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Required minimum score of 6.5. IELTS scores must be sent directly to URI.

The program leads to a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a specialization in Couple and Family Therapy and offers practical experience in our Couple and Family Therapy Clinic. It is the only couple and family training program in Rhode Island accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). Accredited since 1985, we have a proud tradition of students graduating on time and obtaining employment around the country and the world in mental health agencies, family service agencies, and independent practice. Graduates typically obtain licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists after completing post-graduate licensing requirements (see Portability Statement).
