The Department of History offers graduate programs leading to the Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Concentrations are available in the geographic areas of Asia, Europe, and the United States with specializations within each field. Recent PhDs have secured full-time positions at such institutions as the University of Texas-Arlington, the University of the Incarnate Word, University of Nebraska-Kearney, the University of Houston-Downtown, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, San Angelo State University, Prairie View A&M University, University of South Carolina-Lancaster, South Plains College, Midland College, Community College of Southern Nevada, University of Texas-Permian Basin, McMurray University, Stephen F. Austin State University, Wayland Baptist University, and Panhandle State University. The Department of History offers two different kinds of Master of Arts degrees in History – the MA academic preparatory concentration (with thesis) and the terminal MA, or professional enrichment preparatory concentration (non-thesis).
