The Industrial and Organizational (IO) Psychology concentration in the Psychology Ph.D. program at ODU follows the scientist-practitioner model, emphasizing psychological theory and behavioral science. Faculty members involved in the IO Psychology Ph.D. program have expertise in organizational leadership, culture, turnover, job attitudes, individual differences (e.g., Big Five personality), human resource development, work-family issues, occupational health and safety, and the inclusion of women and minorities in the workplace. They are well versed in research design and statistics, and their research has been funded by Health Resources and Services Administration, NASA, NSF, NIOSH, and Department of Defense, among others. We encourage students to make innovative and professional contributions to the field. Our performance expectations and standards are high, however, faculty members are committed to your success. The learning environment is open, nurturing, and cooperative, and students are encouraged to be active partners in the learning process.
