Students begin their studies toward the PhD by obtaining an MA in General Psychology, which includes courses in cognition, social psychology, developmental psychology, neuroscience, psychopathology, research methods and statistics, plus three electivess. For these electives, students may take the three-course module in Substance Abuse Counseling and Mental Health. In the middle of the second year of the MA, students with a GPA of 3.50 or higher, who are also pursuing research with faculty guidance, may apply for admission to the Clinical Program. Unofficial Transcripts: Applicants must upload an unofficial transcript, mark sheet, or academic record for each institution attended in the Educational Background section of the online application. Official Transcripts: Applicants offered admission will be required to submit official transcripts, and official certified translations and evaluations of the transcripts or mark sheets and degree certifications if degrees were earned outside of the United States. Admitted applicants must submit all official transcripts from their entire academic careers. Two letters of recommendation are required for all programs, Resume , Writing Sample, All applicants whose first language is not English must submit a valid TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE score. The minimum score required for TOEFL (IB) is 100, for IELTS is 7.0

Recognized for its scholarly contribution and real-world application, the faculty and students in the Department of Psychology form a tight-knit and academically intensive community. Based in New York City, with research and understanding that affects policies and people around the world, the department contributes to a tradition of psychological scholarship sensitive to social, cultural, and political concerns.<br>The PhD in Clinical Psychology is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association.
