课程简介
Those who are called to the field of psychology and counseling are compelled by a desire to help others and positively impact lives in their community. The Psychology program is designed to foster that desire and empower you to realize that dream of serving the needs of others. The program is characterized by small classes where seasoned, expert faculty can work individually with students, understand their strengths and areas for improvement, and shape experiential learning opportunities around their distinct interests. Students explore the broad range of specializations, including neuroscience, cognition, disorders, and counseling. And experiential learning opportunities include internships, service learning, and research. As a graduate of the program you'll be prepared to enter the field directly, working in any number of professional settings counseling individuals and/or groups. Or you can join other graduates of Upstate's program who have been accepted at outstanding graduate institutions to pursue their master's and/or doctorate. The curriculum is designed to expose students to the diverse field of psychology, from neuroscience and cognition to psychological disorders and counseling. Students choose from five different core areas of psychology to gain breadth of understanding of the field, and then select other courses specifically tailored to their interest within the discipline. Students are encouraged to engage in one of our experiential learning opportunities: Internships, service learning, or working with faculty on research projects.
