The Department of Psychology includes 42 faculty members, approximately equally divided over six major research areas: Clinical, Cognitive, Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental, Industrial/Organizational, and Social. We have over 800 undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in psychology and over 400 pursuing a Psychology Minor. With extensive grant support from Canada's tri-council agencies - Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) - as well as other granting agencies world-wide, the laboratories in the Department of Psychology are outfitted with state of the art equipment, including eye movement trackers, Event Related Potential (ERP) systems, and virtual reality suites. Psychology at Waterloo is consistently ranked among the top five Psychology Departments in Canada.
