Prospective first-year students must:
Have a 3.00 recalculated grade point average (GPA) (a B or better where A= 4.00) from a secondary school.
Please note: GPA recalculation occurs during the admissions evaluation process.
Have three years of high school work.
Please note: If you are currently in high school, the University of Arizona needs to see 9–11 grade work. If you have completed high school then Arizona needs to see 10–12 grade work.
Have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
Official college/university transcripts from each international institution you have attended will be required at the time of enrollment.
If you have attended any college or university outside of the United States during or post-high school, unofficial transcripts from each institution you have attended are sufficient for initial evaluation.
Unofficial transcripts are sufficient for initial evaluation. At any time, you may be contacted to submit official/verified transcripts.
Official transcripts showing grades for all years of secondary/high school and official exam results or certificates from your country will be required before you enroll at the University of Arizona.

Students learn content similar to what they will encounter in their first year as undergraduate students and thereby improve their language abilities. They also enroll in a CESL-supported general education course for credit, this course will count toward any major at University of Arizona.
With CESL's English Language Endorsement, students in the U-Track Pathway can fulfill UA's minimum English language proficiency requirement without taking an additional TOEFL or IELTS exam.

The Bachelor of Arts in Classics examines the languages, literature, cultures, art, history, religion and material remains of the ancient Mediterranean world and their ongoing impact. With the Classical Languages emphasis, students acquire language proficiency in Greek or Latin and are introduced to a broad spectrum of ancient literature. Students graduate with strong skills in critical thinking and problem-solving, along with the agility to balance detailed analysis with big-picture perspectives.<br><br>LEARNING OUTCOMES<br>Cultural Synthesis, Graduates will be able to articulate the complex ways in which different aspects of (ancient and modern) culture are interconnected and interdependent.<br>Deep Thinking, Graduates will demonstrate an ability to work through complex and difficult questions, and to engage in a nuanced, thoughtful, and informed way with fragmentary or contradictory evidence, scholarly discourse, and controversial issues.<br>Foundational Knowledge, Graduates will demonstrate a broad and comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental facets of and facts about the ancient Mediterranean.<br>Language Expertise, Graduates will acquire specific skills essential to the study and interpretation of complex systems of written thought in Greek and/or Latin, as well as English.<br>Transferable Skills, Written and oral communication are essential skill sets, which transcend the boundaries of any academic discipline. Graduates will be able to express their ideas in speech and writing confidently, fluently, and accurately.
