Prospective first-year students must:
Have a 3.00 recalculated grade point average (GPA) (a B or better where A= 4.00) from a secondary school.
Please note: GPA recalculation occurs during the admissions evaluation process.
Have three years of high school work.
Please note: If you are currently in high school, the University of Arizona needs to see 9–11 grade work. If you have completed high school then Arizona needs to see 10–12 grade work.
Have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
Official college/university transcripts from each international institution you have attended will be required at the time of enrollment.
If you have attended any college or university outside of the United States during or post-high school, unofficial transcripts from each institution you have attended are sufficient for initial evaluation.
Unofficial transcripts are sufficient for initial evaluation. At any time, you may be contacted to submit official/verified transcripts.
Official transcripts showing grades for all years of secondary/high school and official exam results or certificates from your country will be required before you enroll at the University of Arizona.

Students learn content similar to what they will encounter in their first year as undergraduate students and thereby improve their language abilities. They also enroll in a CESL-supported general education course for credit, this course will count toward any major at University of Arizona.
With CESL's English Language Endorsement, students in the U-Track Pathway can fulfill UA's minimum English language proficiency requirement without taking an additional TOEFL or IELTS exam.

American politics affect lives beyond our country's borders. Help make a difference in the world with a degree that equips you with a deep understanding of political process. Political science is the study of government, public policy and the political behavior of individuals and groups. For the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in American Politics, students grasp the foundations of political theory, and explore institutions, international relations, foreign affairs, and ideas and methods. They also delve into the unique systems, history and dynamics at play in the United States. Students develop strong analytical, argumentation and communication skills, and have access to internships at nonprofit organizations and government agencies, such as the Arizona Legislature and the Arizona Superior Court, and with local politicians and campaigns.<br>LEARNING OUTCOMES<br>Students will be able to critically analyze political information given an issue important in modern U.S. society.<br>Students will be able to differentiate the theoretical, structural, historical, and scientific dimensions of politics.<br>Students will be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.<br>Students will demonstrate sensitivity and tolerance of racial, cultural, and other human differences.<br>Students will demonstrate commitment to being a politically responsible citizen.<br>Students will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the American political system and/or political systems and governmental institutions around the world<br>Students will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the political processes and institutions that form public policies and impact citizens, as well as the political culture that allows individuals and groups to affect how those processes function.
