Approved by both the Michigan Department of Education and adhering to guidelines of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, SVSU's programs promise to equip you with the communication skills required for language proficiency. Your story starts when you apply to SVSU.<br><br>For a major in<br><br>Spanish , 28 credits are required in courses numbered 211 or higher. Students whose Spanish proficiency is beyond SPAN 211 and SPAN 212 will take all their courses at the 300-400 levels, such students will not receive credit for SPAN 211 and SPAN 212 .<br>It is strongly recommended that six credit hours be taken abroad in a country where the language of study is spoken. These six credit hours can be taken to fulfill required or elective courses in the major with instructor approval.<br><br>For information about using Spanish studies in careers, graduate work, and combined with other academic areas, please consult a faculty member in the Department of Modern Foreign Languages.
