The Associate in Arts in American Sign Language degree (A.A in American Sign Language) provides students with the foundational knowledge in ASL to prepare them for transfer to four-year universities that offer a baccalaureate program. Demonstrate competency in ASL expressive and receptive skills. Demonstrate competency in visual gestural communication and finger-spelling. Recognize what is required to support ASL as the visual language of the Deaf community. Demonstrate a knowledge of the culture and cultural practices of the Deaf community. Display appropriate sociolinguistic behaviors as proficient users of American Sign Language.
