The M.A. in German at the University of Colorado at Boulder is interdisciplinary in a number of ways. Admission to the program does not require a B.A. in German. In the past, we have admitted students whose academic preparation was in such fields as History, Business, Classics, and English. All students must, however, possess a sufficient proficiency in German to participate in graduate seminars taught in German. Our program also allows students to take courses in other fields (usually 3 courses) and write an interdisciplinary Master's thesis (with at least one faculty member from another field on the thesis committee). Other features of our program include excellent relations with faculty throughout the College of Arts and Sciences, close mentoring and advising, and a reputation for excellence in teaching that includes teaching assistants and faculty. We are one of the few German programs in the country to offer a concurrent M.A. and M.B.A.
