Please have your academic records from each secondary school you attended for the U.S. equivalent of 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades sent directly from those schools to American University in sealed envelopes or via the Common Application. Students who study in 3-year secondary school systems only need to provide transcripts for those three years.
Internet based test (iBT) score of 85 or higher. Sub-scores for each section of the TOEFL must be 20 or higher.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System)- Composite score of 6.5 or higher. Sub-scores for each section of the IELTS must be 6.0 or higher

Come learn how to navigate today's shifting media landscape and tell stories that transform lives and shape conversations. Your training will include how to listen, investigate, disrupt, research, and analyze while you do real work with industry, government, non-profit, and entertainment professionals. And, you'll learn from world-class faculty who are innovating the way stories are told.<br><br>They are also at the center of the BA in Communication Studies. Students in this major will gain a rigorous foundation in the analytical skills and theoretical tools that are needed to engage in the world's most pressing problems and pursue a career in charting the future of media and technology. Our students take courses that uncover the political, social, cultural, global, and historical dimensions of communication and technology and conclude their degree by undertaking a capstone research project where they work closely with the faculty to deepen their understanding on a topic of their choice.<br><br>Careers are a strong focus for students in the Communications Studies program. If you want to be a thought leader at your future organization, this BA will prepare you with the exceptional skills of critical thinking needed to examine new media in a democracy.
