A grade point average of at least 3.00 for course work required for the certificate.
No grade lower than B is acceptable.
Bachelor's Degree – You must hold a four-year baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution, or an approved international equivalent.
Grade Point Average – You must have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.75 (4.00=A) for your bachelor's degree, or a minimum 3.00 (4.00=A) for the last two years (60 semester hours).
Transcripts – All applicants are required to submit a transcript from each postsecondary institution attended, showing all degrees and coursework, the dates awarded, and grades received. If the institution is outside the U.S., a foreign credential evaluation may be required.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - (Internet-based) Minimum score: 80
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Minimum score: 6.5
Duolingo English Test (DET) - Minimum score: 105

The graduate Nuclear Safeguards and Security (NSS) Certificate program will provide graduate students and practicing engineers (and their employers) a diverse education with components that will help train and maintain a well-qualified workforce. The UNLV NSS Certificate will provide evidence that the graduate has the appropriate education to become a nuclear safeguards and security engineer in NRC-licensed facilities and US DOE's national laboratories.<br><br>Learning Outcomes<br>Graduates will be technically competent in nuclear safeguards and security areas of the nuclear engineering discipline.<br>Graduates will be able to develop engineering solutions for nuclear safeguards and security based on radiation detection systems, radiation sources, and data analysis systems.<br>Graduates will be able to work within an interdisciplinary team and effectively communicate with their peers and colleagues, conducting themselves in an ethical and professional manner.<br>Graduates will be able to find gainful employment locally or nationally, and function effectively in a progressing nuclear engineering field.
