The 84-credit dual Master of Science in Crime & Justice Studies/Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling (MSCJS/MSMHC) program consists of 26 courses, eight in the Crime & Justice Studies Program (MSCJS) and 18 in the Mental Health Counseling Program (MSMHC). The dual degree must be declared during the first year of matriculation. Mental Health Counseling degree requirements must be completed during the first two years of full-time MSMHC program matriculation, beginning in the fall semester. The fields of mental health, human services, and crime and justice are becoming increasingly interdependent. Our dual-degree program seeks to bridge the existing gaps between these sectors to ensure you have a solid foundation in each area.<br><br>Your crime and justice courses will allow you to explore the causes, contexts, and policies that can lead to or exacerbate mental illness. In your counseling courses, you'll learn to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals and groups with various mental health issues.<br><br>This dual-degree program will help you quality for Massachusetts licensure. Youll complete the mental health curriculum full-time, and may pursue the crime and justice studies curriculum full- or part-time.
