To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school (GED certificate may not be used for admission) and satisfy the below requirements:
You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno. The academic courses include: English, math, social sciences and natural sciences. A weighted GPA takes into account the extra difficulty of honors, AP or IB classes.
If you are not admissible, you will be offered enrollment to a Nevada NSHE Community College. You will be offered admission to a Nevada university once you have completed a minimum of 24 college transferable semester credits at a NSHE Community College and have a 2.5 GPA in all your coursework.
If you are a student who does not meet our academic GPA requirements, but have graduated with an Advanced Diploma from a Nevada high school, you will be granted admission to the University. You must also meet the 13 core course requirements in English, mathematics, social studies and natural sciences to be considered for admission.
You must submit your final, official high school transcripts to support your application for admission.

The School of Social Work at the University of Nevada, Reno is one of only two social work programs offered in the state of Nevada. Our goal is to elevate our students and the social work profession. Social workers are critical to the mental health of Nevadans, and we believe they deserve a seat at decision-making tables. Our BSW program will prepare you to hit the ground running in a variety of social work settings.<br><br>The field education program is a central component of the BSW program. It contributes to the attainment of the program goals by developing, implementing, and monitoring generalist practice opportunities for students to demonstrate core social work competencies in a local agency or organization. Through this experience, you will gain an understanding and recognition of what it means to be a professional social worker.<br><br>Careers with a degree in social work<br><br>The University of Nevada, Reno social work baccalaureate program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).<br>Social worker sitting at a table with a young child<br><br>According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the overall employment of social workers is projected to grow 13 percent from 2019 to 2029. While you'll need a Master of Social Work for any clinical work, there are a variety of careers you can enter with a bachelor's degree. <br><br> Caseworker: These professionals counsel and assist disadvantaged individuals or families.<br> Guidance counselor: Work in an academic setting to assist students with the social and personal skills they need to succeed personally and in their careers.<br> Family support worker: Assists in determining a family's eligibility for federal and state assistance programs.<br> Health educator and community health worker: Promote wellness and educate on healthy behaviors while advocating for health needs within a community.
